Smaragda Diamantidou is a professional singer and music teacher who is still in her second year of studies at Bath Spa University. Smaragda is a performer and sings: classical, pop, musical theatre and folk cypriot music and is available for booking to sing at different venues. In addition she also teaches song and piano for all ages. She also has the right knowledge and good skills to prepare you for singing or piano examinations for all grades (grades 1-8).

Biography

 

Smaragda Diamantidou was born and raised in Cyprus (Limassol). Her mother is a professional musician and her father an engineer that also does music in his spare time. Encouraged by her mother, at the age of 5, Smaragda started singing and learning the piano. Her mother owning a music school and with her help and encouragement she helped Smaragda obtain all of her grades up until grade 8 in singing and piano. With the aid of her mother and a professional musician by her side, at the age of 18 she completed grade 8 in piano, grade 8 in pop and classical music for singing and a diploma for musical theatre.

Her desire and love for music made her want to continue and broaden her horizon and come to England to pursue her degree in Music at Bath Spa University.

In her spare time, she used to sing karaoke with her friends, she also enjoys cooking, dancing and theatre. She also loves spending time with her family and friends. It was from the huge amount of support from her family, being as they were all musicians, that she chose to follow her path in music.

At the age of 15 Smaragda was singing Cypriot Folk music at different restaurants. Later on at the age of 17, she also started singing English music at Hotels and at Lounge Bars. Her desire was not only to perform but also to teach children and pass down her knowledge of music. So at 18, every summer, she started to work at a summer school for music and she was teaching music to children. And so she decided to do a degree in music and follow the path of education as well. Back in Cyprus, she formed a band of 5 members and performed all over Cyprus at different events and big holidays such as Christmas, New Years Eve, etc. Smaragda enjoys singing differnt genres of music but has a special love for musical theatre because from a young age she loved to sing and dance and loved theatre and so she could combined all three.

When she first started University at Bath Spa, she auditioned for an out of uni musical theatre group called BODS and she managed to get in and now she is performing with them and has concerts all over England.
